South Australian model, Shanna Jackway appears in Vogue Australia

I couldn’t believe it, when I read the above article I recognised the name immediately. Shanna Jackway – where had I heard that name before, I thought to myself, then it hit me. I’d watched one of her fashion shoots for The Adelaide* Magazine in September last year.

Last year I was lucky enough to do work experience at The Adelaide* Magazine which is published monthly and comes free in The Advertiser (Adelaide’s newspaper). I went along on one of the photo shoots where I met Shanna. She was beautiful and seemed very bubbly and happy. She brang along her own music and sung and bopped away in between shots.

I’ve decided to begin a new post titled ‘Favourite Outfits of the Week’ which will feature 3-5 bloggers per week. I will make my decision based on their style, originality, blogs, and of course their outfit!

Today’s Outfit

It’s pretty windy in Adelaide today, so this is one of the decent shots I got. My hair was out of control! This is one of my favourite t-shirts – I love Marilyn! And these are my new cargo pants. Happy Friday everyone :)

The See-Through Dress

If you haven’t already heard, this is The See-Through Dress, also known as the Intamacy 2.0. The dress appears as above, but when the woman wearing it becomes aroused and her heart beat increases the dress’s material (leather and smart e-foils) detects this and becomes transparent .

The creator of Intamacy 2.0, Dann Roosegaarde has already won design awards for his new creation which he says “explores the relationship between intimacy and technology.”

What an interesting concept and design. But I’m not sure I’d actually wear it. What do you think?

DIY Easter Chocolates

Lately I’ve been inspired by all the DIY posts I’ve been seeing, so I decided to do one of my own. Nothing too fancy, just keeping it simple, and with Easter coming up this weekend what’s better than DIY chocolates? And it will only take you 10 minutes or less to prepare.

You will need a chocolate mold. I got this one from my local Reject Shop for $4 (it’s pretty cute). And you will of course need chocolate! You can choose any kind you like (dark, white, or dairy milk).

First you need to half fill a sauce pan with water. Put it on the stove on medium heat. You will also need a bowl which is big enough to sit on top of the sauce pan and heat resistant.

Once the water has begun to heat you can place the chocolate into the bowl. The steam from the  water will heat the bowl enough for the chocolate to melt without burning it. Make sure you stir every now and then to circulate the heat.

Once the chocolate is melted and runny with no lumps you can turn the burner down to low. You can now start spooning the chocolate into the mold. Be careful not to over fill the mold otherwise it won’t have a flat bottom and will have untidy edges once it has set.

When you have finished filling the mold place it in the fridge for about an hour. Depending on what kind of mold you have and its size, the fridge time may vary.

Once the chocolate has set you can remove them from the mold. How cute are they!?

You can present them any way you like. If they are a gift you can put them in a small clear cellophane bag tied at the top with a coloured ribbon, or you could wrap them individually in coloured foil. – Enjoy!!

I used 300g of chocolate which made 20 chocolates (2 molds).

Graduation and Lunch at Rigoni’s

Last week I graduated from university! Yay! It was a lovely sunny morning in Adelaide and excitement was in the air. We put our gowns and hats on and proceeded to the theatre where we all sat awaiting our family and friends to fill the empty seats behind us.

The theatre was soon full and the ceremony began. In single file we walked back stage. Nerves were building. Then it was my turn. I remember walking out on stage toward the chancellor who would give me my certificate. That’s all I remember until I reached the other side of the stage. The rest was a blur.

The best part of the day was finding my parents in the foyer after the ceremony. We took photos and they gave me a cute graduation bear. By this time it was about 12.30pm. We made our way to Leigh Street where we had a reservation at Rigoni’s for lunch.

Leigh Street is only small but has real character; cobbled stone instead of bitumen and black street lamps, along with cute shops, a mens barber and nice places to eat.

And what I wore underneath. Mum took this as I was walking to the car – and that’s my cat haha. This is one of my favourite dresses; I can dress it up or down and the colour is different and goes with a lot.

Furry Nice

Sass fur jacket, Supre` top, Sass skirt, Colette necklace, Forever New boots.

I love this outfit. My parents got me the fur jacket as a graduation present last week so I worked the outfit around it. I’ve had the boots since last winter which I wore non-stop; they’re an essential for any winter wardrobe. The top and necklace were cheap finds which match really well. I also decided to curl my hair which gives the outfit a bit of a 70’s look.
