Monthly Archives: March 2012

It’s not very often I wear my glasses but since I’ve started blogging I’ve been spending a lot of (maybe too much) time on my laptop, so I’ve dusted them off and begun wearing them again! Plus they make me look extra smart ;)

Before I begun this blog I really enjoyed reading and getting lost in a good story. So I’ve also decided to start off my love for books again. These are some of the books in my shelf that I’ve already read (except for Gone with the Wind, and Summer in the City – I’ll get there though!).

And of course some fashion reads! Dressing Marilyn has some amazing images and illustrations.

Yesterday I was walking past a second hand book store and decided to go in (I’d never been in one before). Luckily enough I found a book from one of my favourite authors – Jill Mansell. It was only $7 so I got it. It got me thinking; even though the book is old and second hand, the story it self hasn’t changed – it’s still as good as when it was first published. I’m definitely going to be shopping in second hand book shops from now on. It’s so much cheaper you can find some real gems!

I’ve already started reading it!
What’s your favourite book/author?

Giuliana (pictured), 21, who lives in Porto Alegre, has recently started her blog: Suede Dreams Inc ( Her blog includes outfit posts, online shopping ideas, inspiration and the latest fashions.

What made you want to start a blog? I have always wanted to have a fashion blog but didn’t feel ready for it when I was younger, so it was a matter of timing really. I started my blog two months ago and I’m so glad I finally got around to it as it’s been great.

How did you come up with the blog name Suede Dreams Inc? That’s actually another reason why I was putting it off, I wanted to have a cool name for it, one that sounded right. Every time I thought of a name I’d write it down and this, I think, is the best one I came up with. I think it’s fun and that’s the point I want to get across with my blogging.

How would you describe your blog? I spend a lot of my free time browsing the internet so I thought it would be nice to share the things I find interesting. Suede Dreams Inc. is like a style and inspiration board.

What is your style? Where to start.. Umm, I pay close attention to detail so I’m quite picky when it comes to textiles and fabrics and making sure clothes and accessories are well-made. I also get bored easily so I’m always mixing and matching different colors and patterns to keep things interesting. I don’t usually buy anything too trendy as I like to get as much wear out of my clothes possible so it’s key that they are versatile (at least in my own eyes).

What inspires you? Mainly street style and great magazine editorials.

When you’re not blogging what are you doing? I study. I major in Business Administration and minor in Marketing in grad school. I also work although I’m currently jobless. Among other things, I enjoy cooking, traveling and learning languages and I’m an avid movie goer.

I’m sure I’m not the only girl out there who loves florals, right? They’re fun, they’re flirty, they’re colourful and they’re girly. I know most of you are entering into spring at the moment, while Australia is getting closer to winter, so this one’s for you :) The first three pieces are my favourite.

Friday evening, my sister and I were lucky enough to help my Aunty and her boutique by modeling some stunning dresses at the local School Formal Expo. We also go to do a catwalk which was scary, but fun. The following photos are the dresses I modeled.

The young lady behind Feathers + Futons: Lindsay

Age: 19

Location: Raleigh, NC

Why did you decide to start Feathers and Futons?

I decided to start Feathers + Futons as a fresh start. I had been blogging on another blog and just did not like the direction it was going. So, I decided to delete it and start from scratch. Not once have I ever regretted my decision to do so.

How would you describe your blog?

I would describe my blog as a little bit of everything- fashion, beauty, decor, and most importantly, design. Some people do not like that I do not blog about one thing, such as fashion. But I just post what I like. This is because if you don’t post what you like, then chances are you will just stop blogging.

What do you enjoy most about blogging?

What I enjoy most about blogging is meeting other bloggers and interacting with them. Through blogging I have made many great friends, found my love for graphic design, and have had amazing experiences. I also love the ability to share images, ideas, fashion, and more with so many people.

In three words describe your personal style.

I can give you two- Classic and Color. I am one of those people who buy all of the basics and then purchases a few statement pieces. That way I can mix and match. I know it isn’t very exciting, but it works for me!

What is your favourite outfit? Describe it to us.

My favorite outfit is one that is Classic and Comfy. It consists of my favorite jeans- New York and Co. Skinny Bootcut. I would then pair it with a white v-neck, some silver flats, and a bright necklace. I believe that you don’t need to go all out to look good. That, and it would be a little weird to go grocery shopping in heels in the suburbs.

You will soon be the Editor-In-Chief of the soon to be launched online magazine ‘Poppy’, what can readers expect?

The short answer- readers can expect a lot. Poppy is a completely blogger run magazine. This means that we are on the lookout for bloggers who are interested in joining the team. This magazine is all about embracing the blogging community and will have everything- fashion, beauty, decor, design, fun interviews, and amazing opportunities. I am extremely excited about what is to come with this magazine.

I’ve had my heart set on a pair of heels just like these; they’re classy, they’ll go with almost anything and I’m in love with points! I found this pair today by RMK shoes and they look gorgeous on (this photo doesn’t do them justice), and then I remembered another pair I’d seen a month or so ago that I also fell in love with.

Ta-da! Aren’t they amazing?! Tony Bianco you’ve done it again! Only problem is is they’ve sold out of my size. Yes, my heart has broken a little..I need these shoes! Does anyone know where I can find a pair? I need a 6.5, or do you prefer the RMK’s?
